Research lines/projects

Research topics may include compiling data, implementing mathematical models or developing protototypes or designs for applications in healthcare services and logistics: 1) Overview of different care forms / emergency services / initiatives 2) Planning models and methods for radiotherapy 3) Design Science projects for healthcare logistics applications, e.g. in radiotherapy or for simulation models. 4) Development of an optimisation model or a heuristic for the integrated bed and nurse assignment problem of the time-tabling competition 2024 with adapted constraints to match the (German) practice. 5) Design an e-learning course to teach and inform about AI and operations research approaches in healthcare. 6) Using drones to detect and triage patients in case of a mass-casualty event. 7) Testing open source solvers for operations research problems, e.g. locating ambulances. 8) Generic simulation models for integrated healthcare problems, e.g. hospital departments.

Additional information

Speaking German is not a requirement, but a plus; I have strong experience supervising (international) students and enjoy working together on research topics; the aim for all topics is to publish the models and results in peer-reviewed conference proceedings or journal papers which I can write or I can support the student(s) in writing them.
