2025/2026Research lines/projects
Wide range of industrial and biomedical applications of Machine Learning, supported by an extensive network of collaborations with colleagues within my School. For instance, we are currently developing models for the prediction of crack growth in metallic materials. In terms of architectures, my past work has focused on recurrent models, such as Echo State Networks. However, exploring new directions in recent paradigms—such as Graph Neural Networks, State Space Models, or Physics-Informed Neural Networks—would be particularly exciting for future projects.

Description and additional information
Strenghts of the offer/Expected benefits
This offer provides a unique opportunity for close, individualized supervision and active involvement in all stages of the research process. The intern will benefit from direct mentoring, frequent discussions, and full integration into ongoing collaborations with colleagues across my School. A joint supervision of the thesis can be eventually proposed. Access to computational facilities will be granted, including computers with GPU cards, as well as the supercomputer Picasso, which is one of the most powerful nodes of the Spanish Supercomputing Network. This setting will provide a stimulating and supportive environment, particularly suited for a motivated candidate wishing to gain hands-on experience, develop independence, and contribute meaningfully to emerging research directions. In addition, Málaga offers a vibrant atmosphere, combining an outstanding social and cultural life with a state-of-the-art technological and scientific landscape—an ideal setting for both professional growth and personal well-being.
Additional information
The hosting researcher has a long experience in tuition of students and early-career researchers, as well as a developed network of collaborations, including research visits to the University of Craiova (Romania), Pisa (Italia), and Paris-Dauphine (France).
