The proposed internship project is based on the objectives of WP3 of this bilateral project, allowing the proposed internship activities to be based on concrete and immediate scientific activities, ensuring the continuity and synergy of the ongoing PHC project. • Proven Research Record:
A demonstrated history of scientific achievement, evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals, international conferences, or reputable academic outlets.
Experience in leading or participating in funded research projects will be considered an asset.
• Technical and Methodological Expertise:
Strong programming skills in Python and familiarity with data streaming frameworks and IoT communication protocols.

• Description: Propose a framework for assessing and scoring the quality and trustworthiness of data from IoT sources, especially in systems where data is shared across organizational boundaries. The framework could consider factors like sensor calibration history, data provenance, and consensus among neighboring sensors.
• Key Research Questions: How can we create a universally applicable data trust score for IoT data? How does implementing a trust-aware data fusion system improve the reliability of decisions made by an IoT application?

- Research Focus:
- Image Generation with a File Size Budget: Today's powerful AI image generators (like Stable Diffusion or Midjourney) can create incredible images from text prompts. However, they are completely unaware of the final file size of the images they produce. The standard process is to first generate a high-quality image and then compress it using a tool like JPEG. This is inefficient. An AI-generated image might contain subtle textures or noise patterns that are visually insignificant but make the file size unnecessarily large. We propose a new approach where the generative model is made aware of a file size constraint during the image creation process itself. Instead of just trying to make a beautiful image that matches a prompt, our model will be trained to optimize for three things simultaneously: image quality, faithfulness to the prompt, and a low compressed file size. We will achieve this by adding a "rate penalty" to the model's training objective, which will discourage it from creating images that are difficult to compress. This research will first focus on developing a novel "differentiable rate estimator," a small neural network that predicts the final compressed file size of an image. We will then integrate this estimator directly into the training loop of a state-of-the-art diffusion model, using a composite loss function that simultaneously optimizes for image realism and a low bitrate. The next phase will involve modifying the model's architecture to accept a target file size as a direct user input, much like a text prompt, enabling explicit control over the generation's "data budget." Finally, we will rigorously benchmark our system against the standard "generate-then-compress" workflow, aiming to quantitatively demonstrate that our model produces higher-quality images at identical file sizes.

*(re)HAB|UDT – Development of foundational methodologies for implementing digital twins in the comprehensive rehabilitation of urban neighborhoods. The researcher could support the integration of data science techniques and GIS-based spatial modeling to enhance predictive capabilities and participatory planning tools.
*Climate Adaptation Planning – Design of a methodology to guide municipal climate adaptation plans, focusing on data-driven decision-making and spatial vulnerability assessments. The researcher could contribute expertise in urban sustainability, climate data analysis, and geospatial visualization.
*Hydrological Risk Analysis – Strategic development of a multivariable analysis framework for assessing hydrological factors in Spanish municipalities under climate change scenarios. The researcher could apply advanced data science methods, including machine learning and GIS, to support risk mapping and territorial resilience strategies.
*(re)SOHO – Urban Heritage – Exploration of innovative approaches to urban heritage, with a focus on the re-heritagization of social housing neighborhoods in Málaga. The researcher could contribute to the development of analytical frameworks and digital tools that support the cultural and spatial valorization of these areas. - Expected Benefits:
